One Last Look

I certainly hope the World Trade Center gets rebuilt. It has to be. We've lost so much and so many, but the Skyline is something we can take back from those bastards.

MVC-011FWithout the Twin Towers, New York is a king without a crown. The majesty of scope of the tower are nothing compared to the view and the public spaces it created..

The plaza was a great place to have lunch, meet up with friends, or attend a free concert. The mall underneath was massive and was great for lunchtime or after work shopping. One more than one occassion, it saved me at Christmas time.

After the attacks, debates arose almost right away about rebuilding the Trade Center. Some said it should not be rebuilt as it would be a target. I say that's exactly why it should be rebuilt. Becuase it is a target, we know where they will strike. The element of surprise is gone.

I say rebuild the Trade Center, but add another 30 stories to it. Build it bigger, build it better, and dare the terrorists to hit it. Dare the cowards.

From Exchange Place, the PATH train station just before the WTC. The plaza also featured public works of art. The centerpiece was a post-modern redition of Atlas.

Century 21 was a great store. The southwest corner of the WTC complex. Liberty and Church Street. A wider shot of that intersection. The Burger King was used as an emergency HQ for FDNY rescue workers.

Looking down Liberty Street you could see the World Financial Center. The black building on the left is where I was working on Sept. 11. A street vendor who made his living in the shadow of the WTC. These guys sold newspapers, watches, and, on rainy days, umbrellas. A view from Hoboken's grittier side. The Towers stand tall and proud.
