Happy 16th Birthday to Franks World
Sixteen years ago today, I uploaded the first HTML, GIF, and JPG files to the web space my ISP provided.

It wasn’t much at first, just a few static pages that was a web take on the Weekly World News.
That may sound ridiculous today, but this was 1995: Back when print publications were oblivious of the web and button down media suit types thought that this whole “web thing” was a passing fad.
There was no Weekly World News site and I hadn’t even heard of the Onion yet. I saw that there was a missing need on the internet and decided to fill it.
Lawyers had not yet found the internet (they were starting to) and it was still mind-blowing that you could write up some HTML in Notepad or VI, FTP it up to a sever, and instantly have a world wide audience.
After a year at my ISP’s space (complete with a ~ character in the URL), I bought my own domain name: a luxury at the time for a personal site.
Sixteen years later, the site has seen many changes:: platforms, content, and focus.
So, today, I mark an important milestone and now have a web site old enough to get its learner’s permit. ![]()
